With a good amount of confidence, the National Hurricane Center is expecting some kind tropical activity in the northern Gulf of Mexico by the end of the week.
An area of low pressure is coming down from Georgia. Officials have alerted coastal residents from south Florida all the way over to Texas to keeping listening for updates.
"The waters are warm and anytime you have the chance of something developing, that's why the Hurricane Center has alerted the northern Gulf. There is a high chance for tropical development," said forecaster Michael Hill with the National Weather Service.
As for making a prediction on what will happen, Hill said it's still too early.
"This hasn't developed yet and until we get something well-defined then we can define the impacts of where it's going to go.''
There is a lot of uncertainty and forecasters hope to know more in a couple of days.
