Alvin Kamara scores twice after signing extension with Saints

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara scored two touchdowns in the Saints 34-23 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Kamara’s performance came just a day after signing a large contract extension with the Saints, and the running back said it felt great to get the deal done.

“It’s great,” Kamara said. “There’s a lot going on behind that. It’s definitely a blessing being in this organization. Thanks to Mickey (Loomis) and the whole crew that worked behind the scenes to get it done. I’m here. I’m definitely excited.”

Saints coach Sean Payton said he was also happy to get Kamara’s deal negotiated.

“I felt confident that we were going to get Alvin’s deal done,” Payton said. obviously he’s an exceptional player for us; both sides worked very hard at it and so man he looked good today…he means a lot to what we do offensively. “

Kamara added 67 yards from scrimmage to go along with his two touchdowns and almost scored a third time in the fourth quarter.

Since the Saints drafted Kamara in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, he’s been one of the NFL’s most productive running backs.

Coming into the season, Kamara had the third most touchdowns (38) of any running back and the second most all-purpose yards (5,061) of any player at his position since his rookie season.
