
A West Jefferson Medical Center Ambulance on its way to a call flipped on its side when it was apparently hit by a silver sedan in the intersection of Ames Boulevard and the Lower Westbank Expressway.
The accident happened around 11:30am and snarled eastbound traffic on the lower Expressway.
Both the paramedics in the ambulance sustained minor injuries, but were still taken to a hospital for observation.
The driver of the silver sedan was also hurt and transported to a hospital.
According to the Times-Picayune/Advocate A third car, identified as a maroon sedan appears to have struck the ambulence just after it overturned.
A toddler was inside the car and was transported to a hospital in a private vehicle.
An investigation into the accident is still underway.
