
A bicyclist was robbed of his bike at gunpoint. This happened just before 9:30 yesterday morning at the intersection of Calliope and Carondelet Streets.
A press release says the victim was waiting at the intersection red light on a bicycle when she was approached by the suspect. They say the suspect flashed a handgun and demanded the victim’s belongings. The victim refused, and a scuffle over the victim’s bicycle ensued. The suspect then took the victim’s red mountain bicycle with chrome accents and fled on Carondelet Street towards uptown on the victim’s bicycle. Police describe the suspect as black male, 5’10” – 6’0” tall, thin to average build, wearing a dirty brown long sleeve shirt and long pants armed with handgun.
