Today’s the day Saints quarterback Drew Brees has surgery to repair a torn thumb ligament that’s going to sideline him for a number of weeks. Even when re-habbing, Brees will likely be looking for ways to help his team win.

WWL Saints radio color analyst Deuce McAllister knows what it’s like to re-hab, coming back from two ACL tears. He says a player like Brees will want to stay in the thick of it.

"You may be away for a couple of days but then you go and rehab with your team," said Deuce. "Trust me, if he can be with his teammates in New Orleans, that’s what he’s going to try to do."

Deuce says he expects Brees will want to be around the team as much as possible while re-habbing from surgery, to do whatever he can to help his teammates prepare.

"He would be as involved as much as possible, whether that’s, for him, he’s going to still want to stay in shape as well."

We won't know until after the procedure how much game time Brees will miss for recovery and re-hab.
