How did the three announced candidates for Governor of Louisiana react to the mass shootings in Texas and Ohio that killed 29 people over the weekend?
Two of the three did react, but did not discuss what they feel should be done to address the problem of one mass murder after another.
Governor John Bel Edwards said, "This is truly a senseless tragedy." He did not offer any solutions to mass shootings.
Deeply saddened and shocked by the painful mass shooting in our neighboring state of Texas. This is truly a senseless tragedy. We send our condolences & prayers to all of those impacted — the victims’ families, first responders and the entire El Paso community. #lagov #lalege
— John Bel Edwards (@LouisianaGov) August 3, 2019Republican challenger Eddie Rispone made no mention of the mass shootings on his Twitter account. He did post a new political ad Saturday about his support of the president's immigration policies.
I proudly stand with @realDonaldTrump on building the wall, abolishing sanctuary cities, and ending taxpayer benefits for illegal immigrants. Watch my newest ad to learn more about my pro-border security beliefs. #LAGov pic.twitter.com/srCx4I0A8k
— Eddie Rispone (@EddieRispone) August 3, 2019Republican challenger Congressman Ralph Abraham also did not make any mention of the mass killings in Texas and Ohio on Twitter, but did post a series of Tweets taking issue with Governor Edwards.
On his Facebook page he said, "Anyone who intentionally takes innocent lives is pure evil, a coward, and does not deserve to breath the same air the rest of us do." He offered no solutions.
