
Louisiana casino revenues are down with June numbers coming in well below what they were a year ago.
According to the Louisiana Gaming Control Board all of Louisiana's casinos posted year-over-year declines as well.
In New Orleans Harrah's saw a more than five point drop (and a 15% drop from the previous month). To see the report on Harrah's, click here. The Amelia Belle Casino outside Morgan City was off by 2.8%. Closer to home Boomtown New Orleans declined by 6.4% and Treasure Chest shrank by 3.4%. The biggest year-over-year loss goes to the Belle of Baton Rouge riverboat casino, it lost a whopping 43%.
Only the Margaritaville Casino in the Shreveport/Bossier City market showed a year-over-year gain, up 0.6%.
Riverboat casinos contributed $17-million dollars less than at this time last year.
The bright spot in the report is video poker which showed growth, up 1.3 percent compared to June of last year Video Poker also and 4.6 percent for the year so far compared to last year.
Lower revenue means lower profit for operators, but it also means lower fees paid to the state. So far this year approximate $464-million has been paid to Louisiana.
