Expect a chilly start to our Fat Tuesday.

"It'll be a cold one this year, but at least it will be dry. The morning starts near 40 in New Orleans and will feel a few degrees cooler with a light north breeze," according to WWL-TV Meteorologist Alexandra Cranford.

The Northshore and outlying areas start Mardi Gras with a freeze.

"North and west of Lake Pontchartrain until 9 a.m. Tuesday. Protect sensitive plants that may have begun to grow during our recent warmth."

We warm up a little during Fat Tuesday.

"Temperatures will gradually rise through the 40s during the morning and will top out only near 52 for late afternoon."

After the revelry ends, it gets even colder.

"Ash Wednesday morning looks like the coldest of the week - the day starts once again with a light freeze north of Lake Pontchartrain and upper 30s on the Southshore," Cranford forecasts.
