Louisiana’s casino industry has laid off more than 4,000 casino employees due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For nearly 2 months, Casinos across the state were ordered to close to slow the spread of the virus.
According to data from the Louisiana Workforce Commission, the largest layoffs came from casino operator, Horeshoe Entertainment in Bossier City, Louisiana, when they laid-off 978 workers in March.
Harrah’s casino in New Orleans has been shuttered since the city went into COVID-19 lockdown in March. So far Harrah’s has laid-off 201 workers while Treasure Chest Casino in Kenner let go 340 employees just this month.
