Uptown homeowner Casey Urschel had a notice on his Ring video doorbell. When he reviewed it, he spotted a man in a creepy Halloween mask on his front porch trying to force his way in through his homes front door.
Urschel tells WWL-TV he posted the video on line. "A lot of people saw my video and I actually got a very quick response from a somebody else who lived in the area," Urschel says. "They had a very similar video--the same guy that tried to break into their house."
Urschel says the attempted break in was in the Broadmoor neighborhood about two-to-three weeks earlier: "He was wearing the exact same mask, came up to that persons front door, also tried to get into the house, didn't have any luck, turned around and left."
The suspect is described as white man wearing a white t-shirt, gloves and armed with a tool used to try and force the door open.
NOPD has seen the videos and is investigating. Police investigators say the only previous break in attempt was dated June 19th. NOPD is advising people to file reports any suspicious activity so they can investigate.
Urschel is urging residents make sure their doors and windows are locked tight when they turn in.
