UPDATE 5:45 p.m.: The Causeway has reopened in both directions.

The drawbridge on the Causeway malfunctioned this afternoon, briefly closing traffic in both directions. Crews were able to get the bridge shut on the north-bound side, but the south-bound side is still closed.
The malfunctioned happened when the bridge opened to let a vessel pass through.
Causewy officials hope to get the south-bound side reopened by 6:00 p.m.
