Evacuations called in parts of Orleans, Plaquemines, Grand Isle

In anticipation of Tropical Storm Sally making landfall in the area as Hurricane Sally, mandatory and voluntary evacuations have been issued in the following areas:

New Orleans

A mandatory evacuation will begin at 6:00 p.m. in:

  • Venetian Isles
  • Lake Catherine
  • Irish Bayou

Plaquemines Parish

Effective 10 AM Sunday, September 13, 2020 a Mandatory Evacuation will be ordered for the following areas: the entire East Bank of Plaquemines Parish and on the West Bank from Phillips 66 Alliance Refinery to Venice. 

In addition, a Voluntary Evacuation from the community of Oakville to Phillips 66 Alliance Refinery.   

Plaquemines Parish Evacuation Shelter at the Plaquemines Parish Government Pavilion will be activated starting Sunday, September 13, 2020 at 3 PM.  

Jefferson Parish

The following mandatory evacuation order issued by Grand Isle Mayor David Camardelle:

Mayor David Camardelle will be calling a mandatory evacuation as of 9:00 a.m. Sunday, September 13,2020.

Hancock County, Mississippi

Hancock County, Mississippi authorities have issued a mandatory evacuation for low-lying areas, residents along rivers, creeks, and bayous, and residents in trailers, mobile homes, modular homes, homes under construction, and partial homes. A shelter opens at 7 a.m. Monday in Kiln at 18320 Hwy 43.
