Kenner police arrested former Kenner Mayor Phil Capitano Sunday for allegedly ramming is car in to the back of a woman’s car because of a dispute over alleged stolen property.
According to The Times-Picayune | The New Orleans Advocate, 39-year-old Jennifer Ramsey is the ex-girlfriend of Capitano’s nephew and the woman he rammed with his car.
Kenner police spokesperson Lt. Michael Cunningham says, Capitano’s nephew, who was not identified in the report, called Capitano over to his apartment in the 300 block of Clemson Street in Kenner after he found Ramsey in his apartment allegedly taking “disputed community property” from the apartment.
Police say the woman managed to maneuver her vehicle around and drove off. Capitano chased the woman with his vehicle for several blocks before finding the woman and ramming into the rear of her vehicle. Capitano blames the woman for deliberately slamming on her brakes causing the accident.
Capitano was booked with aggravated criminal damage to property and is being held without bond Monday at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna.
Ramsey was booked with criminal trespassing.
