A former police dispatcher at the University of Mississippi has been charged with kidnapping and "touching a child for lustful purposes."

Lafayette County sheriff's deputies announced the arrest this week of 37-year-old Nikki Thweatt in New Orleans.

A release from the sheriff's office says Thweatt and an underage girl went missing Sunday. An investigation led detectives to New Orleans, but it is unclear why Thweatt was in the city.

Thweatt had been charged with sexual battery of a minor on June 26. Two days later, Ole Miss officials announced in a statement that she was no longer employed with the university.

Thewatt is being held in the Lafayette County Detention Center.
