Hard Rock vigil and protest planned at City Hall Wednesday

Hard Rock Hotel

Wednesday marks four months since the partial-collapse of the Hard Rock Hotel where three construction workers died, two of the victim’s bodies remain trapped in the rubble.

Meanwhile, last night, the victim’s family members constructed a memorial near the collapse site and held a vigil for those killed in the collapse. Candles and ribbons now line the collapse site perimeter fence along North Rampart Street.

The twin sister of one victim, Angela Marrette, says she can’t understand why the build is still standing. "This hurts my family every day — knowing that building is still there," Angela said. "I don't understand why they don't take it down. Get them out, and take it down."

A vigil for the victims and a protest to take down the building are planned for Wednesday at New Orleans City Hall.
