JP teacher facing child porn and additional assault charges

911 employee who knew suspect and failed to report also arrested

It’s a case that began last year when Jefferson Parish teacher Willie Moses was arrested in June 2019 on suspicion possessing child pornography.  Now, jump ahead 12 months to Moses being charged with molesting a child under the age of 13 and facing additional charges of computer-aided solicitation of a minor, oral sexual battery, possession of pornography involving a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile.

When initially arrested Moses was a teacher at Tom Benson Middle School in Kenner.

He has since been fired.

Now, a friend of Moses’, 40-year-old Terry Stewart has been arrested and booked with failure to report the commission of felony.

“Terry Stewart was a JPSO civilian employee for 15 years, most recently assigned to the Communications Division,” Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Capt. Jason Rivarde told the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate. “He was terminated shortly after his arrest.”

The case is now being investigated by the State Attorney General’s Office.

At a bond hearing for Moses on Friday, Assistant District Attorney Ralph Alexis said Moses sent texts to his victim asking for sexually explicit photos.  Moses is also alleged to have plied the boy with alcohol and touched him inappropriately.

Exactly what Stewart allegedly knew and when he knew it is not known.

Meanwhile, Moses is being held on $325,000 bond for the new charges.  Stewart has been released on $5,000 bond.
