According to Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office, a deputy responded to a call of a man attacking and biting another man in the 8800 block of Veterans Boulevard in Metairie on Sunday. They say the teenager was beating and biting his own father. The teen was subdued and arrested by the deputy who also sustained bites from the combative teen. A spokesperson for sheriff's office said that while in custody, "the suspect suffered an apparent medical emergency during the arrest and became unresponsive."

A witness recorded the incident on video. Friends of the family say the boy was severely autistic.
