The Law Enforcement District of Orleans Parish, which provides financing for the sheriff's office and can levee property taxes of up to ten mills, will meet Friday morning to consider rolling forward millages.

The New Orleans City Council is the district's governing body.

Members will consider rolling the 2.61 millage rate, adjusted after recent property reassessments, forward to 2.8 mills.

"The Law Enforcement District estimates that the amount of tax revenues to be collected in 2020 from an increased millage is approximately $11.6 million, compared with about $9.78 million expected to be collected in 2019," according to information provided by Sheriff Marlin Gusman's office. "The increased tax revenues attributable to the millage increase are $.79 million."

The meeting is tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. on the second floor of the sheriff's complex at 2800 Perdido St.
