Businesses can sign up to receive updates about changes to business restrictions and guidance for reopening at Opensafely.la.gov.

State Fire Marshal Butch Browning encourages business owners to sign up and answer a few questions.

“Business will be able to register their property to be notified when certain phases reopen and immediately when they register to receive the guidance they need to get their business in commerce,” says Browning.

To get updates click “register your business” and provide them your business’s email address.

Browning says those that sign up will be put on a list for in-person compliance checks, but you don’t have to wait for that inspection to open.

“Understand these compliance checks do not prevent you from opening. Once the Governor gives the order that your business, as it is listed in that particular phase, can open you can open with the rules that we provided,” says Browning.

Once you register your business you’ll be offered a poster you can put up in your business that shows customers you are in compliance with new COVID regulations.

Browning says the site also offers the public an online tool for reporting non-compliant businesses.

“Consumers and customers will be able to file a complaint if they, in fact, go to businesses and feel like the mitigation and fire code standards are not being followed,” says Browning.

Browning says over the weekend they received several complaints of non-compliant restaurants, but upon inspection, they were all unfounded.
