New Orleans Police say a man reported jumping out of his own moving vehicle during a carjacking Thursday night.
It happened around 5:00pm.
The victim admitted to investigators that he was there trying to score narcotics on Esplanade Avenue.
"Victim was in the area of Esplanade / N. Rampart looking to purchase cocaine when he approached two unknown males," according to police reports. "
Police say one of the suspects told the man that his cousin had some cocaine at his house, and told him he could ride with him there.
""Suspects got into the victim’s vehicle and drove to the 2500 block of S Dorgenois Street, where victim noticed the driver reaching under the driver seat for a tool that he kept under his seat. At that point, victim jumped out the vehicle while it was still moving."
The victim was not seriously injured.
