A motorcyclist is dead after flying over the side of westbound I-10 at South Claiborne Avenue on the elevated roadway downtown.
According to crash investigators with New Orleans Police the accident occured just before 7:30pm when the speeding motorcycle lost control, struck the guardrail, throwing the rider over the edge of the roadway.
The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene.
The man has not been identified and no other information has been released by traffic fatality investigators.
The Orleans Parish Coroner will make the determination on the cause of death upon completion of an autopsy.
