Officials in Baton Rouge say a one day old girl has died after she was born to a mother with COVID-19 symptoms.
East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner Beau Clark says the baby did not test positive for coronavirus.
"No, the baby has not tested positive," the coroner said in a Facebook chat. "They are still investigating that on a state and federal level."
Dr. Clark says this is a COVID-19 related death because the mother was confirmed to have the virus and went into pre-term labor as a result.
He said that the mother has not died.
