An New Orleans Police officer was injured during a foot pursuit in the Third District.
The officer was on patrol in the 4900 block of Chef Menteur Highway when they initiated a stop suspecting the presence of illegal drugs.
One suspect then attempted to flee the scene. The officer gave chase on foot and suffered a laceration to his arm during the chase when he came into contact with a guardrail.
The injured officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
One suspect remained at the scene. The fleeing suspect was apprehended by another NOPD officer a short time later.
