An NOPD officer has been shot in Uptown New Orleans.
Police say there was a shootout just after 6:00am on Prytania near Upperline as officers responded to a reported robbery at a CVS store.
One cop was shot in the shoulder.
Police on the scene said a suspect with what they described as a "sub-machine gun" was also shot.
One wounded suspect was caught quickly.
They tracked another man to the 4900 block of Coliseum and surrounded a home.
Residents in that area were advised to stay inside until they caught the second suspect.
Police describe him as an African American male with no shirt and black pants with a red stripe.
Just before 9:00am, cops apprehended the second suspect. He was reportedly wounded.
Crime scene investigators shut down a block of Prytania to investigate as cops filled the area searching for the suspect.
Police drove the wounded officer to University Medical Center.
Chief Shaun Ferguson says both the wounded cop and suspect are in stable condition.
