Gas prices in the Metro New Orleans area are expected to climb for a while yet.
We've seen them on the rise, now, for over a month.
"We certainly have seen, in Louisiana, the prices increase by nearly 25 cents from where we were a month ago," says AAA fuel analyst Don Redman.
"Right now, looking at about 2.34 a gallon. And, this is compared to where we were just a month ago, at 2.09."
Still, Redman does not think we'll be paying terribly high prices come the peak summer months.
"While, there's a temporary uptick in prices, I think that we're going to be paying very similar to what we were last year. We expect those prices to climb to anywhere between 2.50 to 2.65 a gallon by the time we get to the end of May into June."
Of course, that can always change. He says a change in Venezuelan oil output could have an effect, as could any further sanctions on Iran.
Right now, oil is close to 59 dollars a barrel. If it gets up to 65 to 70 dollars a barrel this summer, then we could potentially be looking at much higher gasoline prices."
