Hoa Nguyen, 37, is under arrest in Houston and awaiting extradition back to Orleans Parish to stand trial for murder.
Nguyen is suspected of killing his older sister Hoang Nguyen on or around March 11.
Ms. Nguyen was reported missing after reportedly being last seen around 5:30 p.m. that day prior to leaving her place of employment in New Orleans East.
According to investigators Nguyen’s vehicle, a silver Toyata Camry, found parked on Robin Hood Drive, in the evening of March 13.
When police opened the trunk, they found Nguyen’s body.
Nguyen was declared dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.
Homicide detectives identified her younger brother Hoa Phong Nguyen as the suspect and obtained a warrant for his arrest on a charge of second-degree murder.
A motive for the crime has not been released.
Hoa Nguyen was located in Houston and arrested as a wanted fugitive.
He faces a court hearing Monday morning and will likely face extradition at that time back to Orleans Parish.
If found guilty, he could face life in prison.
