The Kenner City Council has shot down a proposal to redirect funds dedicated to Lafreniere Park to pay for other parks in the city.

The measure failed by a 6-1 vote. WWL-TV reports that some of Brennan's colleagues accusing him of using the issue to drum up support ahead of May's municipal elections.
