The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans announced its ambitious goals and strategies outlined in its Master Plan.
The S&WB’s Master Plan focuses to reduce flooding and improve public health. It also establishes a Customer Advisory Committee for customer to voice their concerns with the S&WB. Eleven customers will be selected by the executive director, to serve on the committee.
“To create a better utility, we all must work together, toward a shared goal. This Master Plan will give us that roadmap,” S&WB Executive Director Ghassan Korban said. “And this plan will be even more significant because it will be based on our customers’ needs and desires from a top-notch utility. I look forward to collaborating with the Customer Advisory Committee to guide our plan for the future.” Customers interested in serving on the committee can apply here.
The Master Plan will span the next three years and will include several phases of research, analysis, community outreach. This all comes after the S&WB continues to struggle with various infrastructure deficiencies and malfunctions, including a frequent water leaks in parts of New Orleans, boil water advisories and an electric turbine explosion at the Carrollton plant.
