Tropical system forecast to hit Florida after crossing Caribbean

The National Hurricane Center has shifted the forecast path of a tropical disturbance in the Caribbean.

"On the forecast track, the system will move near or just south of Puerto Rico later today and tonight, near or over Hispaniola on Thursday, and near or over eastern Cuba on Friday," according the a Hurricane Center advisory.


The system is forecast to become Tropical Storm Isaias.

"Environmental conditions are expected to be conducive for additional development, and a tropical storm is forecast to form later today or tonight."

Forecasters do not expect it to become a hurricane.

Early tracks called for a landfall near Miami, but now the Hurricane Center says the system could move up the west coast of Florida before hitting near the Big Bend region.
