The National Hurricane Center is tracking two disturbances that have a high probability of developing into tropical depressions or tropical storms.
Some computer models show the systems heading into the Gulf of Mexico, but most keep them away from Louisiana.
Invest 97L is in the Caribbean.
"A tropical depression is likely to form late this week or this weekend when the system reaches the northwestern Caribbean Sea," the Hurricane Center advises.
Formation chance through 5 days is 80 percent.
"Environmental conditions are conducive for further development, and a tropical depression is expected to form during the next day or two."
Most forecast models send this system toward the US East Coast.
"Both areas of investigation have the chance of entering the Gulf. Exactly where, when, and a what strength remains unknown. Until the systems have a closed circulation computer models can grab on to, they will continue to flip-flop run to run."
He says that for now the models keep the systems on the weak side as "just rain makers."
He cautions, however, "This forecast will change over the next few days so stay tuned."
The next names on the storm name list are Laura and Marco.
