A woman who New Orleans police say shot a man in the head last week attempted to convince investigators the man did it to himself.

According to The Times Picayune | The New Orleans Advocate a police statement filed in court says 27-year-old Lynshell Davis was booked July 25 with Second-Degree murder and Obstruction of Justice.

The police report says NOPD officers found the slain man while responding to a shooting call in the 1900 block of Norht Derbigny Street about 6:50 .m. on July 22.

The man, whose name has not be released, was on life support before dying two days later.

Its not clear from the report why Davis became a suspect but police wrote in their report that Davis allegedly told investigators the man somehow shot himself in the head while he was fighting with her. It says she told police she then hid the gun.

Police wrote they found the gun in the hiding spot Davis revealed. Police also say two separate eyewitnesses say they saw Davis shoo the man. One eyewitness said they saw Davis chase the man while wielding ta gun.

Police said an autopsy contradicted the idea the man shot himself in the head. The Orleans Parish Magistrate Court set Davis’ bond at $155,000 on Sunday. Davis remains in custody.
