Tommy: You can find incredible stories by listening

Tommy Tucker

I've never been the shy, quiet type.  My father would tell me, “you’d be amazed how much you can learn if you’d shut your mouth and open your ears.” He was proven right again this morning.

Amy Klobuchar dropped the big f-bomb during Tuesday night’s Democratic debate; and President Trump’s language has often been, shall we say, salty. That led us to invite Roy Cohen, a career coach and author of The Wall Street Professional's Survival Guide, to talk about the appropriateness or inappropriateness of cursing in the workplace.

During the course of our conversation, he said he was once forced to use foul language in the workplace as he was leading people down the stairway of the south tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11.

A moment passed before I said “Wait...what?” Sure enough as the fire marshal of his floor, Roy led the occupants of the 21st floor down the steps to safety. The stairwell was completely dark, illuminated only by the lights on the hats of fireman who were, as fireman often do, running INTO a situation most people are trying to escape.
