Monty Python member John Cleese will present a 50th anniversary screening of the comedy troupe's first original film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this fall at the Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans.
The legendary comic will then answer audience questions and share stories of the making of the film (assuming he remembers any).
The 1975 movie skewers the King Arthur legend in its depiction of the knights of the round table's search for the cup of Christ.
Along the way, the knights encounter obstacles including the stubborn Black Knight, a castle full of virgins, and a rabbit with a vicious streak a mile wide.
Cleese's comedy legacy extends beyond Monty Python to include the British series (and cult classic in the U.S.) Fawlty Towers, the 1988 film A Fish Called Wanda, as well as appearances in numerous movies including the 007, Shrek, and Harry Potter franchises.
"Not Dead Yet: John Cleese and the Holy Grail at 50" will be at the Mahalia Jackson Theater in Armstrong Park on September 24 at 7:30 p.m.
