LSU football coach Lane Kiffin has started rebuilding the Tigers' offense. Out of the eight transfer portal commitments as of Wednesday morning, three are wide receivers.
Hawaii’s Jackson Harris, Old Dominion’s Tre Brow,n and Kansas State’s Jayce Brown have one thing in common. They are big play receivers.
Brown averaged 20 yards a catch during his freshman campaign at Old Dominion as he caught 38 passes for 762 yards and four touchdowns. He’s six-foot-two, 180 pounds, and not afraid to go over the middle and has speed.
Former Hawaii star Jackson Harris averaged 19 yards a catch in 2025. He caught 49 passes for 963 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has ambitions to play in the NFL and believes LSU is the best place for him to continue to develop.
Jayce Brown was one of Kansas State’s top receivers last season as he averaged 17 yards a catch during his three seasons with the Wildcats. Brown, who has nearly 2,000 receiving yards in his career, is the number 3 wide receiver in On3’s portal rankings.
Ole Miss was also interested in Jayce Brown.
WWL’s Mike Detillier describes Jayce Brown as a good route runner, elusive, and strong.
But who will throw to these receivers remains a question mark.
It seemed like LSU was closing in on a deal with former Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt. Leavitt arrived in Baton Rouge on Monday, attended the LSU men’s basketball game on Tuesday night with coach Lane Kiffin and star linebacker Whit Weeks.
But Austin Priceless, who covers Tennessee for On3 sports, reported on Tuesday night that Leavitt will visit Tennessee on Wednesday.
Another big-name quarterback has surfaced as a possibility for LSU, and that’s Washington’s Demond Williams, who announced Tuesday night he’s entering the transfer portal.
Williams is expected to be one of the top quarterbacks in the country next season after throwing for 3,065 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions for the Huskies in 2025. He also rushed for 611 yards and accounted for 32 total touchdowns.
It was reported last week that he signed a revenue deal to remain with the Huskies in 2026, but in a social media post, Williams says he has to do what is best for him and his family.
Kiffin recruited Williams out of high school, and at one time, he was an Ole Miss commitment.
Since Kiffin is possibly involved, there is controversy. Washington is reportedly unwilling to release Williams from the contract he signed on January 2nd.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports Washington is prepared to pursue all legal avenues to enforce the contract that Williams signed.
Stay tuned as the transfer portal continues to produce unexpected content.
LSU’s portal class also contains two running backs to play alongside Harlem Berry. Rod Gainey from Charlotte and Raycine Guillory from Utah.
Gainey is out of the state of Florida and rushed for 260 yards and a touchdown in his one season at Charlotte.
Guillory was a highly recruited player out of the state of Texas. He signed out of high school to play at Utah, but did not play for the Utes. So, he arrives in Baton Rouge with four years of eligibility.
