Troopers: Impaired driver caused I-12 crash that killed Ohio couple

WWL

Two Ohio residents are dead and an Amite City man is in jail after a deadly crash on Interstate 12 in Livingston Parish.

That crash happened around 11:20 p.m. Friday on I-12 near LA-43.

State troopers say 24-year-old Daniel Dennison swerved his pickup truck into the path of a van, sending both vehicles into the median cable barriers. The van continued to flip past the cables and into the path of an 18-wheeler, which hit the van.

The 54-year-old woman driving the van and her 47-year-old passenger, both from Beavercreek, Ohio, died at the scene. Police have not released their names.

Dennison, the driver of the 18-wheeler, and a passenger in the 18-wheeler all were treated at hospitals for minor injuries.

Dennison is facing two counts of vehicular homicide, one count of DWI, and a variety of other charges.
