LSU landed a commitment on Wednesday from one of the top receivers in the portal, and he has experience making plays in the Southeastern Conference.

Eugene “Tre” Wilson is leaving Florida for the Tigers after catching 107 passes for 1,043 yards and ten touchdowns after three seasons with the Gators.

The former five-star recruit in the Class of 2023 caught 61 passes for 538 yards and six touchdowns in his freshman season. One of those touchdown catches came against LSU.

Wilson battled injuries in 2024 and 2025. He only appeared in four games as a sophomore, and last year he caught 27 passes for 239 yards and three touchdowns in eight games.

He is the fourth portal-wide receiver LSU has signed or received a commitment from. The others are Jackson Howard of Hawaii, Tre Brown from Old Dominion and Jayce Brown from Kansas State.

LSU has yet to sign a quarterback. Former Arizona State signal caller Sam Leavitt left Baton Rouge on Wednesday after a multi-day visit. He is reportedly visiting Tennessee.

If LSU is interested in Washington’s Demond Williams, they will have to wait for his name to officially appear in the transfer portal. Washington has refused to file the necessary paperwork because they say Williams is not allowed to transfer after agreeing to a revenue-sharing deal last week.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports Washington is pursuing legal options to enforce the contract.

Meanwhile, former LSU Tiger quarterback Michael Van Buren has found a new home as Van Buren will transfer to South Florida. It will be his third school in three years in college as he started at Mississippi State.

LSU has also reportedly signed a punter. Hayden Craig from Florida. Craig did not punt for the Gators last season. Remember, LSU’s new special teams coordinator, Joe Houston, coached at Florida last season.

We will see if LSU’s punter in 2025, Grant Chadwick, decides to get in the portal after averaging nearly 46 yards a punt last season.
