LSU star left tackle Will Campbell is expected to be a top ten pick in the NFL draft. If pro football does not work for the Monroe native, don’t expect Campbell to get a job at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Despite going to a city where there are hundreds of things to do, mainly gambling, Campbell has just one thing on his mind.

“I’m not into all of the other stuff, I’m only going to Vegas to play football, that’s the only time I’m going to Vegas is to play football,” Campbell said.

What about a little sightseeing?

“We are not going to Ceasars Palace, we are going to whatever the name of the stadium is to play USC,” Campbell said.

The name is Allegiant Stadium and kick-off is at 6:30 on Sunday night against USC.

The game plan seems simple.

“We are going to run the ball, so that’s not something we are hiding or trying to keep quiet, I’m telling everyone right now we are going to run the football.

When the Tigers throw the football, Campbell has complete confidence in quarterback Garrett Nussmeier.

“I think he’s one of the most explosive playmakers in the country, I think he’s going to show that and I’m excited for him not only as a football player, but as a leader, because he takes pride taking commanding on our offense,” Campbell said. “I’m just super excited for him, he deserves everything that’s coming his way.”

LSU is looking for its first season opening win since 2019. Campbell wants to get the season off on the right note.

“We got to come out rolling this year,” Campbell.

Campbell is not talking about rolling dice. He’s talking about rolling through the USC defense and returning to Baton Rouge with a W.
