The injury bug is continuing to bite the New Orleans Saints in training camp, this time for Alvin Kamara.
The veteran running back is expected to be out for the next month due to a sprained MCL, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. The injury occurred after Kamara took a hit to the knee during Tuesday's joint practice against the Dallas Cowboys.
Brought to you by TRANESOUTH: It's hard to stop a Tranewww.audacy.comKamara has had bad luck with knee injuries of late, missing extended time with knee issues at the end of each of the past two seasons. The veteran RB agreed to a reworked, incentive-laded deal to return to the Saints in 2026, where he is expected to form a tandem with newcomer Travis Etienne. To this point in camp Kamara has been featured in pass down situations.
The timeline will be tight for Kamara to return in time for the openere, which will take place on Sept. 13 against the Detroit Lions.
The injury news is the latest in a camp that's been littered with them for the Saints. CB Quincy Riley also left the practice with a groin injury, while news broke earlier in the week that No. 8 overall pick Jordyn Tyson is expected to miss at least the first month of the regular season with a hamstring injury. Veteran DE Cam Jordan is also working back from a hamstring injury, while DT Bryan Bresee and backup guard Dillon Radunz are both done for the season with torn ACLs.
The good news for the Saints is they did see the return on Tuesday of RBs Devin Neal (hamstring) and Kendre Miller (back), both of whom had missed the past several practices with injuries.
The Saints are scheduled to hold a short practice on Wednesday before their next joint practice, this time against the Rams, followed by their preseason matchup at SoFi Stadium on Saturday.
