CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – News of Odell Beckham Jr. choosing the Rams just broke as former Rams and current Browns safety John Johnson III sat down for a Zoom session with reporters Thursday afternoon.
Johnson seemed just as shocked as many on social media were at the news.
“I don’t know how that’s going to work,” Johnson said when asked for his immediate reaction. “Hey, I’m tuned in.”

According to multiple reports, Beckham chose between the Rams and Packers before ultimately settling on los Angeles.
One of the reasons Beckham quit on the Browns and forced his way out of town was a lack of touches here, along with the desire to be the primary offensive star.
That’s something that Johnson feels might be just as tough in L.A. for Beckham.
“I just feel like they had a good thing going, like a complete offense,” Johnson said. “I don’t know. I just feel like.. from being in L.A., I know for a fact the offense runs through Cooper Kupp. Even in the run game, the pass game, the screen game. It kind of runs through Cooper Kupp and obviously Odell, he’s a big name. He’s going to want that attention as well, so it’ll be interesting.
“Coach McVay, he’s one of the best doing it. I know he’ll find a way to get it done but just right off the bat I’m like, I wouldn’t really want to go there but we’ll see how it goes and I wish him the best.”
The Browns waived Beckham on Monday after coming to an agreement on a modified contract.
After he cleared waivers Tuesday, Cleveland became responsible for $4.25 million of what was left on his contract, a savings of $3 million for the club. The final two years of the contract they inherited from the Giants in the March 2019 blockbuster trade were also voided as part of the separation agreement.
The Browns blew out the Bengals without Beckham 41-16 in their best performance of the season that saw Baker Mayfield throw for two touchdowns and the team improve to 5-4.
While Johnson isn’t sold that Beckham is going to be a fit, he believes the Rams will find a way to incorporate him within the offense.
“They’re going to try and find a way to get him the ball,” Johnson said. “They’re definitely going to do that, and Matt Stafford is one of the best doing it right now. They have an electric offense. They’re fun to watch so it’ll be interesting. I’m going to be tuned in and see how it goes but that’s a good situation to go to if you’re a wide receiver, I know that.”
The Rams are 7-2, a full game behind Arizona in the NFC West.
