One of the biggest questions remaining in the New Orleans Saints offseason might finally be pushing toward a resolution.
The Saints and longtime pass-rusher Cam Jordan are set to meet this week to discuss a new contract. The news was first reported by former Saints OT Terron Armstead on his show "The Set." Jordan is set to fly to New Orleans on Tuesday, as the team kicks off the first day of its veteran minicamp.
Jordan's contract expired at the end of the 2025 season and he entered free agency for the first time in his career. Saints GM Mickey Loomis said earlier this offseason that a deal had been presented to Jordan to potentially return, and head coach Kellen Moore indicated last week that the ball remained in Jordan's court. The Saints did make a pair of additions at the position, though none were major moves. They sent a 5th round pick to the Raiders for Tyree Wilson, signed former Patriots OLB Anfernee Jennings and re-signed Chris Rumph.
Jordan, now 36, is coming off a resurgent season where he led the team with 10.5 sacks, while also logging 47 tackles, 15 TFLs, 2 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He was insistent throughout the 2025 season that his intention was to keep playing, even if that meant putting on another team's jersey for the first time. Jordan has played 15 NFL seasons since the Saints selected him No. 24 overall in 2011, and has accumulated 132 sacks and 763 tackles, while being named to the Pro Bowl eight times. He's also been an ironman, appearing in 253 of 255 possible games, including 11 playoff games.
Speaking with Armstead earlier this offseason, Jordan made it clear that his role was likely as important to his decision as anything else. He is currently No. 17 on the all time sacks list, and would be keen on continuing to climb up that list, not watching from the sidelines. Should Cam return, he'd be fighting for a spot in a rotation led by Chase Young and Carl Granderson.
The Saints kick off on Tuesday the first of two minicamp practices prior to a month-long break leading up to the start of training camp in July.
