"As we celebrate the 60th season of the New Orleans Saints in 2026, the Ring of Honor represents the very best of our franchise and those whose impact extends throughout the National Football League," said team owner Gayle Benson in a news release. "We are thrilled to welcome Drew into this distinguished group in October. His extraordinary accomplishments on the field, his leadership, and his lasting contributions to the New Orleans community make this honor so well deserved."

Brees was the Saints quarterback for 15 years before retiring in 2020, rewriting the Saints record books and setting a host of NFL records in the process, leading the Saints to their only Super Bowl title in the 2009 season. Brees was a two-time Offensive Player of the Year and was named to 13 Pro Bowls.

The addition will mark the ninth name to join the list, the most recent being guard Jahri Evans, who joined the group in 2024. The others include Tom Benson (2018), Morten Andersen (2016), Rickey Jackson (2013), Archie Manning (2013), Sam Mills (2021), Willie Roaf (2013) and Will Smith (2019).
