The announcement on the new class of inductees to the Pro Football Hall of Fame comes tonight.
"The only way Drew Brees doesn't gain entry to the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year is if the vote is canceled or he declines to accept," Senior Writer John DeShazier said on the Saints website. "The announcement is a foregone conclusion for the best player in New Orleans Saints franchise history, who is on the short list for greatest quarterbacks ever to play in the NFL."
Brees is a Super Bowl champion, a two-time NFL Offensive Player of the Year, a five-time All-Pro selection, and he’s in the Saints Ring of Honor.
Brees played in the NFL for 20 seasons and threw for 80-thousand yards and 571 touchdowns. Only Tom Brady threw for more yards and touchdowns. Brees holds the record for highest career completion percentage.
The announcement is part of the NFL Honors.
Saints rookie QB Tyler Shough is also nominated or Offensive Rookie of the Year.
