The New Orleans Saints have opted for a rookie movement in the specialists room.
Blake Gillikin is the latest household name apparently looking for work, with UDFA Lou Hedley winning the job, according to reports.
It's the second major specialist change for the Saints in a matter of hours, with longtime kicker Wil Lutz shipped out in a trade to the Broncos with another UDFA in Blake Grupe set to take over the job.
Hedley may be a rookie, but he's 30 years old and built well at 6-4, 220 pounds. Hedley joined the Saints after a successful run of 47 games for Miami, having come to the U.S. via Australia. He and Gillikin traded off snaps throughout training camp.
The Saints were reportedly shopping Gillikin on the trade market, but no deal had yet developed as the cut deadline loomed. All 32 teams were required to trim down to 53 players as of 3 p.m. central time.
