There's quite a bit of uncertainty surrounding the quarterback situation for Week 1's Green Bay Packers-New Orleans Saints matchup, though you don't have to wonder whether they'll be a sellout crowd at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to watch the game.
Saints president Dennis Lauscha spoke with John DeShazier of the team's website, and confirmed that the team expects to go back to full attendance in 2021.
"I 100% expect full attendance, and everyone rockin' and rollin' and cheering our team on to victory - absolutely," Lauscha said.
Lauscha would go on to say that reaching "community immunity" in New Orleans through the COVID-19 vaccine is "one of our No. 1 priorities." COVID Act Now says that 41.3% of people in New Orleans have received at least on dose of the Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine. While the J&J vaccine is a one-dose shot, Pfizer and Moderna require a second shot. 36.5% have received both shots, allowing them to qualify as fully vaccinated.
Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill will compete to be the starting quarterback for the Saints in front of the full capacity crowd in Week 1. Whether Aaron Rodgers will be starting for the Packers or not remains to be seen.
