The 9-2 Saints play game 2 of a 3 game road trip this Sunday in a familiar place at least. They’re at Atlanta for a week 13 noon kickoff on Sunday where New Orleans can sweep the season series.
Taysom Hill took over under center for the first time in week 11 against the Falcons, roasting the birds for 249 yards passing, 54 on the ground getting 2 rushing touchdowns.
Coach Payton’s game plan for Hill’s 2nd start in Denver was modified after finding out the Broncos would be using a mix of running backs and a practice squad wide receiver at quarterback. Things were toned down to minimize mistakes, and the ground game grinded the Broncos down while New Orleans left with an 8th straight victory.
Hill expects he’ll be able to showcase his arm more this week in a re-match against the Dirty Birds.
“We're preparing to go win a football game. And, I would say I'm back to that aggressive, like man, let's go let loose," said Hill.
He completed 78% of his passes letting loose in his first start versus Atlanta and continues to fine tune his game as this opportunity evolves.
“Making sure my timing, my decisions are quick and clean and the ball's is out on time,” are the things Hill says he will always working on as a QB. “Typically good things happen when you're doing that well."
Drew Brees will be eligible to come off injured reserve following Sunday’s NFC South showdown. If multiple rib injuries along with a punctured lung allow him to play, Brees could be back Week 14 when New Orleans plays at Philadelphia.
