The Caesars Superdome is the new name in New Orleans.

The new title sponsor for the Saints' stadium moved one step closer to becoming official this week as the state legislature's joint budget committee approved the new naming rights contract for the building.

The approval was a procedural step, according to a statement from the Saints, and the team will now move to finalize its partnership agreement. A timeline on that process is not yet known.

The value of the new 20-year contract is expected to be in the range of $138 million, according to a report from NOLA.com, with proceeds going to the Saints to be used in the ongoing renovations.

The previous naming rights deal with Mercedes-Benz expired in July with workers stripping the name off the side of the stadium.

The building opened in 1975 and had previously been known as the Louisiana Superdome until Mercedes-Benz took over rights to the building in 2011. The German car manufacturer is still represented on the Atlanta Falcons' Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
