A teenager is under arrest for a shooting outside a Hammond school this morning.
Hammond police say the 13-year-old was refusing to get out of the car at Tangipahoa Alternative School.
A Hammond Police Department lieutenant and a school resource officer were called to the scene. After speaking with the officers, the adult who was driving decided to bring the child home.
Police say that is when shots rang out from inside the vehicle.
The officers say the teen then began approaching with a gun, but they were able to arrest the child without further incident.
According to cops, the adult is in critical condition at North Oaks Medical Center and authorities placed the school on lockdown as a precaution.
