Update: The 18-wheeler has been removed and all lanes are now open.
An 18-wheeler flipped over on the eastbound I-10 in Metairie overnight.
The truck was hauling UPS packages and flipped just before the Causeway Blvd. exit.
Crews have been working for hours to get all of the contents out of the trailer and into another truck before they can flip the vehicle back on its wheels.
The impacts have left traffic a mess heading through Kenner into Metairie with miles of delays.
Authorities closed the two exit lanes to Causeway and two more lanes, leaving just the far left lanes open.
Alternate routes include Airline Drive and Veterans Blvd. Both of those and other east/west roads, however, have been getting congested with overflow.
