The Southern Rail Commission says Amtrak is going to add an extra car to its Mardi Gras train for Saints home games.

It would increase the train's capacity by more than 60 passengers.

The train service, which launched last month, has been regularly sold out for its twice-daily trips from New Orleans to Mobile, Alabama, and vice-versa.

The Saints' remaining home games are Sep. 14, Oct. 5, 12, and 26, November 23, and December 14 and 21.

For noon kickoffs, passengers coming from the east would be able to get off the train at New Orleans' Union Passenger Terminal, walk to the Superdome a few blocks away, then make it back to the station in time for the 5:31 p.m. train home.

Four of those dates are scheduled to kick off at 3:05 p.m. or later. Gulf Coast Saints fans may want to consider staying at least one night those days.
