New Orleans Police say an armed man stole a car near Audubon Park this morning, but ran away after crashing into another car.
WWL-TV reports one person was detained for questioning. No injuries were reported.
It all went down near the intersection of Walnut and Pitt streets, on the park's Uptown side.
"Basically, this car crashed into our vehicle and destroyed it," one witness told the TV station "My wife had just gotten out of the car. By the luck of god, she wasn't killed because she had just gotten out."
The witness says he watched the would-be thief get out and flee on foot after the crash.
